Solutions Architect

Before You Apply — A Message from Our Founder

For generations, women have navigated systems never built with them in mind. The gaps in leadership, health, wealth, and opportunity were engineered into the world we inherited—and now, for the first time, we have the tools to build something better. AI gives us the chance to design technology that truly partners with the women and organizations working tirelessly to advance women and girls. Being trusted to do this work is both a privilege and a responsibility, and I am looking for people who feel that responsibility as deeply as I do.

Uplevyl is not a conventional workplace. We have a distinct culture. We exist to create meaningful impact for society, and we hold ourselves to a standard of moving fast while delivering quality that endures. We partner only with those who share our commitment to doing important work, and we build technology that opens doors, expands opportunity, and enables more people to participate and benefit.

We hire only A-players and compensate them accordingly. We do not compromise on talent, and we part ways respectfully when performance does not meet the standards required by our mission. Everyone at Uplevyl wears multiple hats. No task is beneath anyone. Decisions are driven by merit, not hierarchy. We prioritize customers over internal convenience, avoid politics, and maintain zero tolerance for unnecessary bureaucracy.

We move with urgency because the mission demands it. When the work calls for it, we stretch beyond traditional hours—not out of obligation, but out of genuine commitment to building something transformative. We look for people energized by bold problems, people who find meaning in momentum and possibility, and who bring a proactive, high-ownership mindset to everything they do. If you thrive in environments where innovation, purpose, and high standards come together, you will feel at home at Uplevyl.

Job Description

The Solutions Architect owns the architecture, delivery machinery, and engineering operating model of the platform.

This role exists to build a reliable engineering system where architecture, delivery processes, and team ownership enable consistent execution — without relying on individual heroics.

The platform is a multi-tenant SaaS system with AI capabilities serving enterprise clients, nonprofits, and community hubs.

Technology Environment:

  • Frontend: React / Next.js

  • Backend: Node.js / Python

  • Mobile: React Native (iOS & Android)

  • Infrastructure: AWS (ECS, Cognito, S3, Lambda, etc.), GCP (Vector AI, etc.)

  • Tooling: GitHub, Jira, Confluence

The organization is transitioning toward an AI-first engineering model, where AI-assisted development and documentation-first workflows are core to the operating model.

Key Responsibilities

Systems Builder:

  • Build scalable engineering systems and delivery processes that consistently produce reliable outcomes

  • Create and govern CI/CD pipelines, release workflows, architecture standards, and delivery governance frameworks

  • Reduce operational dependency on individual contributors by implementing resilient engineering systems

  • Establish sustainable operational discipline across engineering teams

Documentation-First Engineering:

  • Implement structured engineering workflows:
-BRD → PRD → Solution Design → Implementation → QA

  • Ensure architectural and implementation decisions are clearly documented

  • Create delivery systems where engineers can execute with complete context and minimal verbal dependency

  • Drive documentation standards across architecture, engineering, QA, and product functions

AI-First Engineering Leadership:

  • Lead adoption of AI-assisted engineering workflows and tooling

  • Integrate tools such as Devin, Cursor, Copilot, and Amazon Q into engineering operations

  • Build workflows where developers operate as architects, reviewers, and systems thinkers

  • Design automated engineering pipelines:
    - Spec compilation → code generation → automated testing → security scanning → release

Delivery Discipline & Operational Governance:

  • Own engineering delivery metrics and operational transparency

  • Implement engineering scorecards including:
    - DORA metrics
    - Stability and performance tracking
    - Hiring pipeline visibility
    - Infrastructure and cost dashboards

  • Maintain risk registers and launch readiness documentation

  • Govern release management processes including:
    - Readiness reviews
    - Freeze windows
    - Go / No-Go decisions
    - Rollback planning

  • Establish delivery estimation standards, velocity tracking, and defect benchmarks

Multi-Tenant SaaS Architecture Ownership:

  • Design and govern secure multi-tenant SaaS architecture

  • Define tenant isolation strategies, RBAC, enterprise SSO, and secure data boundaries

  • Publish and maintain HLD and LLD documentation

  • Lead architectural design reviews and technical governance discussions

  • Define non-functional requirements including:
    - SLOs
    - Latency targets
    - Error budgets
    - Infrastructure cost ceilings

  • Identify and resolve architectural gaps and technical debt across authentication, environment isolation, and PII handling

Team Leadership & Engineering Multiplication:

  • Scale engineering effectiveness through structured ownership models

  • Enable delivery leaders and engineers to own end-to-end project execution

  • Build onboarding and knowledge transfer systems for new hires

  • Foster direct collaboration between engineering, QA, design, and product teams

  • Eliminate bottlenecks caused by centralized decision-making

Primary Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in software engineering, architecture, or platform engineering roles

  • Strong expertise in scalable SaaS architecture and distributed systems

  • Experience leading engineering operations in high-growth or fast-moving product environments

  • Deep understanding of AWS and cloud-native infrastructure design

  • Experience with AI-assisted engineering tools and modern developer productivity workflows

  • Strong background in CI/CD systems, DevOps practices, and release governance

  • Experience designing secure enterprise-grade systems including RBAC, SSO, and tenant isolation

  • Strong written communication and technical documentation capabilities

  • Experience managing cross-functional technical teams and delivery execution

  • Familiarity with DORA metrics, engineering KPIs, and operational performance frameworks

  • Ability to balance speed, scalability, reliability, and long-term maintainability

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience working within AI-first engineering organizations

  • Exposure to enterprise SaaS platforms serving multi-tenant customer environments

  • Experience establishing engineering governance and operational excellence frameworks

  • Familiarity with infrastructure cost optimization and observability tooling

  • Experience implementing documentation-driven development and engineering enablement systems

  • Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills

Cultural & Work-Style Skills

1. Ego Less, Impactful Collaborative Contribution
You collaborate across disciplines, share knowledge openly, and welcome feedback on architecture, code, and decisions. You care more about building the right system than about being “right”.

2. Ownership From Design to Delivery
You think beyond tickets. You take responsibility for the full lifecycle of what you build including architecture, implementation, testing, reliability, and iteration. You solve problems end-to-end rather than waiting for perfect specifications.

3. Mission-Driven Urgency With Technical Depth
You move quickly when needed, but never at the expense of long-term stability. You can distinguish when to build fast and when to build right and you communicate trade-offs clearly.

4. Agility in Ambiguity
You are comfortable building in evolving environments with partial information. You prototype, test assumptions early, reduce dependencies, and find creative paths through constraints.

5. Purpose-Fueled Resilience & Curiosity
You stay steady when debugging complex issues, you learn rapidly, and you adapt as the product and architecture evolve. You draw energy from solving meaningful problems and building systems that open doors for millions of women.
