Uplevyl Signs the Open Weights and American AI Leadership Letter

At Uplevyl, we have always believed that the future of AI cannot be built by a handful of closed systems making decisions for everyone else.
This belief is why we are proud to be among the 270 organizations that have signed the Open Weights and American AI Leadership letter, alongside Microsoft, NVIDIA, Google, OpenAI, Meta, Hugging Face, and IBM.
What the Letter Says
The letter makes a straightforward but consequential argument: true AI leadership cannot rest exclusively with a small number of closed frontier models. A healthy, competitive AI economy also requires open-weight systems, models whose architecture and parameters organizations can examine, adapt, and deploy according to their own needs, their own users, and their own values.
Open-weight AI is not a workaround. It is a design philosophy. It means that organizations do not have to simply consume what a few large providers create. They can build on it, specialize it, and make it work for communities and use cases that closed systems were never designed to serve.
Why This Matters to Us
Uplevyl was founded on a specific observation: the data powering most AI systems does not fully reflect women's lives, transitions, or decision-making realities. Closed models, trained on broad internet data and optimized for mass-market applications, have no structural incentive to fix that gap.
Open ecosystems change that equation. When more organizations can access, inspect, and build on AI infrastructure, more of them can ask the questions that closed providers do not: whose experience is missing from this model? Whose risk is being ignored? Whose knowledge has never been structured into training data?
For us, open-weight AI is not an abstract policy position. It is the technical foundation that makes gender-intelligent AI possible at the scale the world actually needs.
What We Are Committed To
Signing this letter is a public commitment to a more open, competitive, and widely shared AI economy. It is also consistent with every product and partnership decision we make at Uplevyl: build transparently, protect user data, and ensure that the intelligence layer we are creating serves the people who have historically been left out of these systems, not just the people who already had access.
We are proud to stand alongside organizations shaping how AI is built, adapted, and applied. And we are proud to bring Uplevyl's perspective, that of a women-centered, gender-intelligent AI company, into that conversation.
The future of AI should reflect the full range of human experience. Open ecosystems are one of the most direct paths to making that true.
